The red, white, and blue flag serenely rippled in the breeze. Atop a tower it stood. That tower retained a twin, also dressed in silver, reflecting those who passed by. Below the flag, horns were blaring and people were chattering. A plane grazed the tip of the flag. A stone cold voice was heard above him: Allah Akbar! Smoke engulfed the flag. The smoky smell was choking him. Broken glass: slashing him. Hopeless cries piercing him. Fire burnt his stripes, leaving holes in the stars. He fluttered to the ground helplessly as people were leaping to their death bed in attempt to escape the flames. The now black, unrecognizable flag finally settled, around limp, lifeless, cold bodies. Now he stands strong, representing what America has been through, and persevered through. He proudly waves to fellow Americans. Some fill with pride, others just pass by. Regardless, the Star Spangled Banner represents what America has overcome.
